On September 12, our Romanian Folk Dance Group Ciuleandra will perform at the Alberta Multicultural Celebration, sharing the rhythm, tradition, and spirit of Romania alongside many other cultural groups.
Bring your family, your friends, and your love for culture. Let’s celebrate together.
About the Group
Ciuleandra is the official Romanian folk dance group of the Romanian Canadian Cultural Association of Calgary. The ensemble was formed after many years of folk dance classes offered through the Romanian School in the Prairie program, where children and youth learned the foundations of Romanian traditional dance, rhythm, and cultural expression.
Today, Ciuleandra brings together passionate dancers who proudly represent Romanian folklore, traditional costumes, and ancestral customs at cultural festivals, community celebrations, and dedicated folklore events across Calgary and the surrounding region.

Join our talented group and become a dancer under the guidance of our instructor, Tamara Manolache. Our rehearsal classes are free, open to the public, and take place every Thursday at 6:00 PM.

The OneWorld Festival is the vibrant centerpiece of GlobalFest, celebrating the cultures, traditions, and communities that make Calgary one of Canada’s most diverse cities. This year, GlobalFest moves to its new home at Spruce Meadows, where cultural pavilions fill the grounds with colour, music, and connection.
At the Romanian Cultural Pavilion, hosted by the Romanian Canadian Cultural Association of Calgary, visitors are invited to step into Romania’s rich heritage through traditional art, costumes, crafts, and storytelling. Our pavilion showcases authentic Romanian décor, folk attire, and handcrafted treasures — all presented by passionate volunteers eager to share the warmth and spirit of our culture.
Throughout the evenings, enjoy live performances across multiple stages, including Romanian folk dance group "Ciuleandra" featured in Friday’s lineup. From 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the festival comes alive with music, dance, and cultural showcases from around the world — culminating in Canada’s largest fireworks and drone show lighting up the night sky.
And of course, no celebration is complete without food! Wander through the festival’s international food vendors and taste authentic flavours from every corner of the globe.
